Zurabishvili ready for second round of presidential elections

Independent candidate for the post of Georgian president, Salome Zurabishvili, supported by the ruling Georgian Dream party, told reporters that she will continue to fight for this post in the second round of elections.

On Sunday, October 28, presidential elections were held in Georgia. Since none of the candidates were able to get over 50% of votes in the first round, second round of elections will be held on December 2. Zurabishvili got most of the votes - 38.64%. She will compete against Grigol Vashadze (37.73%) from the former ruling United National Movement party in the second round.

"I'm ready, we're ready for the second round! We're ready to fight, because I believe in you! I believe in your choice, I believe in your wisdom, I believe that you know what you want for Georgia! I believe that you're well aware that today we have to choose not from two candidates, two parties, but to choose between two different Georgia's. It's your choice, it's the second round," Zurabishvili said.

She also thanked her supporters for their support in the first round. “I want to thank everyone who came to the polls, supported me, voted for me, who has been very actively involved in this difficult campaign for the past 2.5 and 3 months,” Sputnik Georgia quoted Zurabishvili as saying.
