According to the administration of the President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili nominated two candidates to the parliament for the post of CEC chairman in accordance with the country's legislation.
“Out of the three nominated candidates, Zurabishvili chose the incumbent head of the CEC, Giorgi Kalandarishvili, and the constitutionalist and executive director of the NGO Platforma 2020, Tengiz Tevzadze”, Sputnik Georgia writes.
It had previously been reported that a new competition was needed, as the mandate of the current Chairman of the CEC and two members of the Central Electoral Commission would expire on February 2.
