Chechen writer nominated for Nobel Prize

Chechen writer Kanta Ibragimov has been nominated for the Nobel Prize for Literature with his novel “Aurora” in 2012, press service of Chechen authorities says.

This is the writer’s second nomination. The Nobel Committee of the Swedish Academy of Sciences nominated Ibragimov for his novel “Children’s World” in 2010.

Kanta Ibragimov is currently the Chairman of the Union of Chechen Writers and member of the Russian Union of Writers. He is a PhD in Economics and a professor. He was awarded the State Premium of the Russian Federation in literature and arts.

The writer has been working for 38 years. He has carried out economic research. His first novel “The Past Wars” made him notorious in 1999. Ibragimov experienced war and tragic events in Chechnya in the 1990s.

He has written over 20 works, including 3 monographs. Ibragimov is also a member of dissertation councils and the author of such novels as “The Past Wars”, “Grey Caucasus”, “History Teacher”, “Children’s World”, “Fairytale of the East” and “House of Problems”.
