A declaration has been passed at the International Theology Conference of Muslims in Moscow. It condemns radicalism.
Attendees of the conference arrived from 23 Muslims states, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Morocco, Jordan, Tunisia, Bahrain, Iraq, Egypt, Lebanon, Mauritania, Sudan, Afghanistan, Turkey, Iran, Albania, Switzerland, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Russia.
Ravil Gaynutdin, Chairman of the Russian Mufti Council, Ismail Berdiyev, Chairman of the Coordination Center of Muslims of the North Caucasus, Muhammad Rahimov, Chairman of the Russian Association of Islamic Consent, Albir Krganov, Deputy Chairman of the Central Spiritual Administration of Russian Muslims, Doctor Ali al-Karadagi, Secretary General of the International Association of Islamic Scholars, and Doctor Abdullah bin Baya, Deputy Chairman of the Association, arrived.
The declaration combines fatwahs condemning radicalism, extremism and violence under religious slogans. It has the same status as the declarations passed in Mecca, Amman and Cairo.
Attendees of the conference condemned the misuse of such terms as Jihad, Taqfir and Caliphate. The wrong interpretation of them causes radicalism, such as happened in the area from the North Caucasus to Afghanistan and Somalia.
A Russian MP from Dagestan, Rizvan Kurbanov, head of the Dagestani Ministry for National Policy Mirzayev described preventative measures. The document passed in Moscow will help Russian Muslim leaders and Muslims to prevent expansion of radicalism.
The conference was organized by the Al-Vasatiya International Center of Kuwait, its office in Russia, the International Association of Islamic Scientists with support of the Fund for Support of Islamic Culture, Science and Education and the Fund of Ahmat Haji Kadyrov.
