The List of the UNESCO World Heritage was enlarged by nine countries, including the tomb of Gonbad-e-Gabus and the Friday Mosque in Iran, Interfax reports citing the press service of the organization.
During the 36th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in St. Petersburg apart from the two above mentioned Iranian sites, the archaeological heritage of the valley Lenggong (Malaysia), the landscape of the Grand Pre (Canada) and other sites were added to the list.
The tomb of Gonbad-e-Gabus in Iran has a characteristic 53-meter tower and was erected in 1006 for Gabusa ibn Voshmgira near and is a monument to contacts and rivalry between the nomads of Central Asia and the civilization of ancient Iran.
The Friday Mosque (Masjid-e Jame) in Esfahan is the oldest temple of its kind temple, preserved in Iran and became the prototype for the design of mosques in the later period across Central Asia.
