Recently an evening took place in Baku in memory of the Azerbaijani writer, author of plays and screenwriter, Imran Kasumov dedicated to the 95th anniversary of his birth. Imran served as the first deputy Cinematography Minister of the Azerbaijan SSR, editor-in-chief of "Literary Azerbaijan", as well as the first secretary of the Union of Writers of the Azerbaijani SSR from 1975-1981. His scenarios were used in such movies as "On Distant Shores," "The Rhythms of Absheron," etc.The grandson of the master, Farid Adigozalzade, who now lives in Turkey, said that the writer was "first and foremost a great family man and a wonderful person." He added that works of Imran Kasumov, with their ideals of humanism, citizenship and heroism, can offer guidance to today's youth. Imran Kasumov was also known as "the last romantic in Soviet literature" and his movies are distinctly romantic.
