Vladimir Tsvetnov, director of the department for control, monitoring and licensing of cultural heritage at the Russian Culture Ministry, said that the Foreign Ministry has started consultations with UNESCO to include cultural sites of Crimea on the UNESCO World Heritage list, RIA Novosti reports.
The UNESCO World Heritage Center will hold a meeting in Qatar.
Russia will protect the sites according to federal law 73.
The Khan’s Palace in Bakhchisaray, the Genoese Fortress and Genoese Colonies in the Northern Black Sea area may be included on the list.
