Armavia receives first serial SSJ-100

The Armenian airline company Armavia has received the first Russian
serial regional plane Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ-100), named after the
first spaceman, Yuri Gagarin, Roscosmos reports.


The deputy director general of the air company Aram Yegoyan said that
they plan to launch the new plane in February when all the
certification documents are ready. The plane will fly on the
Yerevan-Moscow route.


The SSJ-100 was to receive the certificate from the European Aviation
Safety Agency in mid 2011.


The short-haul passenger plane SSJ-100 developed by the Civil
Airplanes of Sukhoi (part of the Sukhoi holding) in cooperation with
Boeing can transport up to 98 passengers at a distance of 4400km. The
first Superjet 100 was presented on September 26, 2007 at
Komsomolsk-on-Amur, where it made its first flight on May 19, 2008.


Aeroflot is its first and main purchaser. It ordered a total of 30
planes. Armavia ordered five SSJ-100s. The Civil Airplanes of Sukhoi
has 150 orders. The Financial Leasing Company ordered 10 planes for
"Yakutia" air company, 24 for Utair, 3 for Phongsavanh, 30 for
Kartika, 30 for Pearl Aircraft, 6 for Willis Lease and 15 for
InterJet.
