Russia will consider lifting the temporary embargo on wheat exports in
October 2011, when the harvest level will be determined, Agriculture
Minister Yelena Skrynnik said at the second congress of the national
wheat-makers' union on Tuesday, RIA Novosti reports.
Russia introduced the embargo on August 15, 2010.
Skrynnik added that they expect 85 million tons of wheat to be
produced this year. She said that Russia has passed state programs on
agriculture, such as improvement of the agro-industrial market
infrastructure. This may allow the country to regain its status as one
of the world's main wheat exporters.
