The tenth international conference "Oil & Gas, Infrastructure and Energy"(GIOGIE 2011) started today in Georgia, Trend reports.
Conference was opened by Georgian Energy Minister Alexander Khetaguri. He spoke about future energy projects and prospects in the energy sector.
The Minister talked about the planned construction of 13 hydroelectric power station until 2015, as well as power lines that connect energy systems of Georgia and Azerbaijan, and Georgia and Turkey.
Khetaguri noted that by 2015 Georgia intends to double the export of electricity and develop infrastructure for that. Khetaguri also mentioned energy security issues and spoke about the efforts to diversify energy supplies to Georgia. In this regard, the Minister stressed the agreement with Azerbaijan, which allows to provide the country with natural gas.
