The Russian government is considering extending the embargo on grain export until late 2011, Russian Vice-Premier Victor Zubkov said, noting that he does not see a serious reason for lifting the embargo until new harvest is collected and calculated, ITAR-TASS reports.
The official clarified that he is aware of experts pointing out dropping prices for grain on domestic market. He disagrees with their point. Zubkov explained that the current price for one ton of grain is 6500-7000 rubles. The previous price was 8000 rubles. It is below that world price of 10000 rubles per ton.
Zubkov said that they will start talks on the issue on July 1, 2011, when the embargo expires. The vice-premier reminded that there are forecasts on harvest dropping from 85 to 61 million tons.
