The construction of a terminal for the liquefied natural gas on the Black Sea in Ukraine will be another point of dispute between the governments of Russia and Ukraine as it contradicts the national interests of the Ukraine, said Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yuriy Boyko to journalists in Donetsk, RIA Novosti reports.
In March 2010, the Ukrainian government approved a plan for the project to build a terminal for handling the liquefied natural gas on the Black Sea coast. The estimated cost of the construction of the terminal is about $ 1 billion.
The construction of the first phase is expected to begin in 2013 and be completed in 2015-2016, the construction of the second stage - in 2016-2018.
He noted that South Stream is not commercial but a political project of the Russian partners, who want to create an excess of the transit capacity.
