Georgia and UN investigate plane crash

Georgian air authorities and UN officials are investigating the UN plane crash site. The plane belonged to Airzena-Georgian Airways. It crashed in Congo on Monday, Georgian Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Georgy Karbelashvili said, RIA Novosti reports.


The Civil Aviation Department of the Unified Transport Administration of the ministry joined the investigation.


Preliminary information says that the plane entered a tropical storm, causing the accident.


The plane carried 29 passengers and 4 Georgian crew members.
The crew consisted of pilot Suliko Tsutskiridze, crew members Guram Kepuladze, technician Albert Manukov and crew commander Alexey Oganesyan.


Airzena said that the CRJ-100 plane was in good condition and underwent technical inspection on December 22.


The head of the company’s PR service Nino Giorgobiani said that the plane crashed after entering a tropical storm. It broke apart and started burning.
