China is in favour of reopening the dialogue between six international mediators and Tehran on the Islamic Republic's nuclear program, spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hun Ley said, RIA Novosti reports.
The six mediators (Russia, UK, France, Germany, USA and China) have been persuading Iran, together with IAEA, to stop uranium enrichment as a threat to nuclear non-proliferation. The talks were stopped in 2009 when IAEA accused Iran of launching the second uranium enrichment plant and urged it to confirm that no other nuclear facilities will be constructed without informing the agency.
The Iranian spokesman cited the Deputy Secretary of the Iranian Supreme Council of National Security Ali Bageri.
He reminded that China hopes that the problem will be resolved via a dialogue.
USA and a set of other states of the West accuse Iran of developing nuclear arms on the background of peaceful studies. Tehran denies the accusations and insists that the program is aimed at fulfilling the demand for electricity.
The UN Security Council passed the fourth resolution introducing sanctions against Tehran. The resolution was passed over Tehran's refusal to fulfill international obligations and clarify a set of issues on the program, including its military aspect.
