Germany’s MAN Truck&Bus AG and Uzavtosanoat have started construction of a new factory producing heavy vehicles in the Samarkand Region of Uzbekistan, Trend cites Uzavtosanoat as saying.
Construction started on April 11. The factory is called JV MAN Auto-Uzbekistan.
Assemblage, paintwork and diagnostic facilities will be built at the first stage in 2011-2013. They will produce up to 6,000 tow cars and chassis of MAN in a two-shift regime. Productivity is expected to reach 10,000 units annually.
The companies plan to open dealer and service centers.
In the future they will have facilities producing cabs and bearing frames.
The long-term plans are to produce up to 20,000 vehicles annually. The project will be financed using investments and credits.
The Uzbek side has a 51% share, the German side – 49%. The joint company has a charter capital of 3 million euros.
MAN produces vehicles for all spheres, including vehicles capable of lifting 15-50 tons. MAN Auto-Uzbekistan is realizing the assembling of trucks at the SamAvto factory (Samarkand).
Uzavtosanoat unites the Uzbek car industry, established in 2004, based on Uzavtoprom. The company has over 30 enterprises, including a factory producing car parts.
