Construction of the Nabucco gas pipeline from the Caspian region and the Middle East to the EU will start in 2013, Trend reports.
The first gas supplies are expected in 2017, Managing Director of the Nabucco Gas Pipeline International Reinhard Mitschek said on Friday.
Earlier reports said that Nabucco construction was to start in 2012 with first gas supplies in 2015.
The 3300-kilometer pipeline will have a capacity of 31 billion cubic meters annually.
The participants of the project are OMV (Austria), MOL (Hungary), Bulgargaz (Bulgaria), Transgaz (Romania), Botas (Turkey) and RWE (Germany). Each has a share of 16.67%.
Azerbaijan, Iraq and Turkmenistan are expected to be the main gas suppliers.
