Higher fuel prices have caused rising costs for freighting on the Ilyichevsk-Poti and Novorossiysk-Poti ferries. The director of Armenia’s largest transport-expediter company Apaven, Gigik Agadzhanyan, told Vestnik Kavkaza that freighting costs do not always affect the price of main goods imported to Armenia. The price may change by $1-2 per ton of cargo transported via railway.
The price for freighting via the Ilyichevsk-Poti ferry rose by 10%, which is $300-350 per carriage. The price at Poti rose by less than 10%, which is $250-270 per ferry from Port Caucasus to Port Poti. A carriage carries about 60 tons of cargo, which means that the price increased by $4-5 per ton. The costs from Poti to Yerevan had changes as well, $1-1.5 per ton.
Further rising of fuel prices will affect the freighting costs.
