The ITGI project (Interconnector Turkey-Greece-Italy) will allow
Azerbaijan to transport up to 24 billion cubic metres of gas to Europe
annually, the head of the Greek company DEPA, Gary Sachinis, said
today in Baku, Trend reports.
The annual capacity of the Turkey-Greece-Italy pipeline may be
increased from 12 to 16 billion cubic metres, while the IGB capacity
(Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria) may increase to eight billion cubic
meters from the current three. The pipeline is expected to be
commissioned in the second half of 2014, Sachinis said.
According to Sanchis, the DEPA is in the process of holding talks with
the consortium on developing the Azerbaijan's Shakh Deniz gas field
and on buying gas both for Greece and Italy.
The ITGI project is part of the Southern Gas Corridor, which also
includes projects such as Nabucco, the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP),
White Stream and the ITGI (the Turkey-Greece-Italy pipeline).
