Turkey will give Russia a draft of an intergovernmental agreement on the construction of a nuclear power plant, ITAR-TASS reports.
In late February, the Russian side handed over its draft of the intergovernmental agreement to Ankara for examination.
Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildyz, said that Turkey did not intend to enrich nuclear fuel.
"We plan to purchase it from Russia. The issues of fuel enrichment have not discussed during the negotiations,” the minister said.
He added that "the right to enrich uranium is possessed by only five countries: the United Kingdom, the United States, Russia, China and France."
"Only these countries provide other countries wishing to build their own nuclear power plants with fuel,” he said.
Turkey is planning to build its first nuclear power plant at Akkuyu, on the Mediterranean coast with capacity of 4,000 megawatts, which is expected to meet 8% of Turkey's power needs by 2020, and 20% by 2030.
