Russian and CIS air companies may receive 1080 planes worth $110
billion in the next 20 years, Boeing said, RIA Novosti reports.
Earlier forecasts had put the cost at $90 billion.
The new planes will replace old and inefficient aircraft. Boeing
Vice-President Randy Tinset says that passenger volume will increase
by 4.3% annually.
Over 60% of planes purchased in the coming 20 years will have a narrow
fuselage. Boeing believes that its planes will have a share rise from
55% to 66% by 2030.
There will be demand for about 200 wide-fuselage planes such as the
Boeing 787. Boeing 747s will not be in demand.
The CIS will need 1,600 regional planes in the next 20 years.
The number of old planes will drop from 11,400 to 1,400 by 2030.
Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are large customers of Boeing.
