LUKOIL-Nizhnevolzhskneft (100% subsidiary of LUKOIL) has concluded the
first satellite monitoring of the northern part of the Caspian Sea
this year.
No pollution was detected from the Severny section, where the field
named after Yuri Korchagin is being developed.
Most pollution came from vessels that drop oil waste. The largest
polluted area covers 69 square km and was found in the Russian sector
of the sea, 115 km south of the licensed sections of LUKOIL.
Monitoring was held by the SCANEX engineering and technological
center. It held 103 sessions of satellite monitoring from February 1
to August 1, 2011.
