Realization of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) project will contribute to stability of political and economic ties in Asia, Miroslav Yench, Special Representative of the UN secretary general, head of the regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, headquartered in Ashkhabad, said on Friday, Trend reports.
The TAPI deal was signed in Ashkhabad in December 2010. The TAPI will be over 17,000 km long with a cap of 33 billion cubic meters of gas annually. The pipeline will have a diameter of 1420 mm and a pressure of 100 atmospheres.
6 compressing stations will be built in the town of Fazilka in India on the border with Pakistan, the 1680th km of the pipeline.
Turkmenistan may support peace in Afghanistan using its chairmanship in the UN program for economies of Central Asian states.
