Russian Minister for Communications Igor Shegolev is on a visit to Tskhinvali in South Ossetia where he signed a deal for cooperation in communication, information technologies, RIA Novosti reports.
Tskhinvali held the first business forum with Russia, resulting in signing of 5 cooperation deals.
Igor Shegolev and his South Ossetian counterpart Georgy Kabisov signed a cooperation deal. The documents allows exchange of information on technical regulation of communications, radio frequencies, mail service.
The document states broadcasting of programs on Russian language in South Ossetia. The republic is to switch to digital broadcasting in the future.
Russia and South Ossetia have 56 interstate and inter-department deals. 40 more are to be signed. Shegolev visited a printing office, that had been destroyed in the war of August 2008, a TV and radio complex, that had been looted and broken. Damage caused to the facilities is worth 80 million rubles. The ministry was shown restored facilities, which include 1700 service lines and 7 satellite antennae for internet access of schools. The telephone stations in the city was restored and has 3,000 people using it.
