Kazakhstan and Russia are discussing swap operations with grain, RIA Novosti cites Kazakh Agriculture Minister Asylzhan Mamytbekov as telling the parliament on Monday.
Kazakhstan is actively cooperating with the Russian Grain Union. There are problems with transport expenses, which is why grain is planted in the south, near the Black Sea, and consumed in the north and the Middle East.
Kazakhstan has had a record grain harvest in the last 60 years, storing it in the north. The state is moving extra grain to other regions. A total of about 500,000 tons of grain are planned to be shipped. 260,000 tons have been moved. Kazakhstan plans to harvest 22-23 million tons of grain and export about 10 million tons this year.
