The first Iranian nuclear power plant in Bushehr constructed by Russian specialists is operating at 75% output, head of the Organization for Nuclear Energy of Iran Fereydun Abbasi Davani said, ITAR-TASS reports.
The energy block produces 750 MW. It will be increased to 1,000 MW in February, the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution. The reactor was stopped at an output of 50% in October for tests and checks of equipment. The procedure took 25 days. Inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency control the process.
The Bushehr nuclear power plant opened on September 12. It was connected to the national network with an output of 40% on September 13. Russian Minister for Energy Sergey Shmatko, head of the Rosatom State Corporation Sergey Kiriyenko, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi, head of the Organization for Nuclear Energy of Iran Fereydun Abbasi Davani, Iranian Energy Minister Majid Namju were at the opening. Russia guaranteed to launch the power plant with full output within a year from the opening.
