The energy deal signed between Russia and Turkey will not affect the realization of the Nabucco project, Turkish Minister for Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz said, Hurriyet reports.
The Nabucco project is to transport gas from the Caspian Region and the Middle East to EU states. Its construction is to start in 2013 and launched in 2017. It will have a maximum cap of 31 billion cubic meters annually. Nabucco shareholders are OMV (Austria), MOL (Hungary), Bulgargaz (Bulgaria), Transgaz (Romania), Botas (Turkey) and RWE (Germany).
Turkey and Russia signed the deal in December 2011. Turkey permitted Russia to build the South Stream Pipeline in the Black Sea. It will diversify routes for gas supplies to Southern and Central Europe. It will have a maximum capacity of 63 billion cubic meters annually. The sea section of the pipeline will be 900 km long from the Russkaya compression station to Bulgaria. The project is worth 15.5 billion euro.
