Georgia will start the export of electricity to Turkey and Europe using a new power line in May 2012, Minister for Energy and Natural Resources Alexander Khetaguri said at an energy conference with Turkey in the Radisson Hotel of Tbilisi today, Business Georgia reports.
The 400-KW power line will connect Borchkha and Akhaltsikhe. Georgia and Turkey are negotiating a deal on cross-border trade.
The new power line will be part of the electric project of the Black Sea. The project involves construction of 500-KW and 400-KW power lines. A 700-MW transformer of constant current will allow exports of electricity. The project is worth 300 million euro. It is financed by the Georgian government and international organizations.
