Russian university heads do not fear income declaration

Heads of Russian higher education centers do not fear the introduction of income declaring proposed by Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, RIA Novosti reports.

Mikhail Eskindarov, head of the Financial University of the Russian Government, noted that government universities passed declarations in 2010 and would do it for 2011 if necessary. Eskindarov believes that the initiative could be an attempt to compare the incomes of university heads and average teachers. The average teacher's wage is about 50,000 rubles a month, he says.

Mikhail Strikhanov, head of the National Nuclear Research University, approved of Putin’s initiative.

Vladimir Kolesnikov, head of the Russian Chemical and Technological University of Mendeleyev, noted that he is ready to report on his income. He said that the wages are set by the ministry.

Vyacheslav Prikhodko, head of the Moscow Automobile and Road Technical University, expressed intent to present income details.

Andrey Kaznacheyev, head of the Pyatigorsk State Technological University, said that heads of higher education centers shouldn't be afraid of presenting the details of their incomes. Wages are set by the Education Ministry, he notes.

Komsomolskaya Pravda published a fifth article by Prime Minister Putin called “Building Justice. A Social Policy for Russia” on Monday. The article proposes income declaration for state higher education centers, medical and science centers.
