Bulgaria has not made a final decision to withdraw from participation
in the Burgas-Alexandroupolis oil pipeline, prime minister Boyko
Borisov declared a few hours after suggesting it would.
"The Bulgarian government hasn't made a final decision regarding the
construction of the Burgas-Alexandroupolis oil pipeline," Borisov
said, the press service of the Council of Ministers stated, reports
Novinite.
This contradicts his statement, made around midday on Friday after a
meeting with ambassadors of the EU member states in Sofia, that
Bulgaria was quitting the Russian-sponsored oil-pipeline and was
postponing construction of the Belene nuclear power station.
Borisov clarified that he criticised the economic feasibility and
environmental impact of the future Burgas-Alexandroupolis oil pipeline
in response to a question from the Greek ambassador in Sofia.
Bulgaria, Greece and Russia are partners in the pipeline project,
which has been beset by problems.
