Iran launches own anti-virus software

Iran has launched own anti-virus software, as stated by Mohammad Hussein Sheykhi, a member of the subdepartment for electronics and computing equipment of the Shiraz University, Trend reports.

Software was developed by specialists of the Computer Emergency Response Team of the Shiraz Enlightenment Academy, Development of the AV started in 2010.

Iranian industrial and nuclear centers suffered from a cyber attack by Stuxnet virus in 2010. The team developing AV consists of 5 students, 20 post-graduates and 5 masters of computing. Their work is financed by a special commission of the president for information and communication technologies.

The AV may later be sold on the market.
