Georgia stops $20 million debt payment to Kazakhstan due to restructuring

Georgia has stopped paying its debt to Kazakhstan, which is estimated at up to $20 million, the Minister of Finance of Kazakhstan Bolat Zhamishev stated on Monsay, News Kazakhstan reported.

“Georgia owes us a debt that is sovereign, not Soviet. At the moment Georgia has stopped fulfilling its duties, making reference to the decisions of the Paris Club: as Georgia had restructured all its foreign duties, the Paris Club demands the restructuring of other duties of the country too, and this enables Georgia not to fulfil its duties toward us,” Zhamshiev said.
