Sanctions against Iran to remain in place

All sanctions against Iran will stay in force despite preparations for the next round of talks with six international mediators, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said, RIA Novosti reports.

Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, said that there are major disagreements with Iran to be overcome at the next round of talks in Moscow on June 18-19. Six mediators offered Iran to stop uranium enrichment to 20%. The plan presented for Iran has 5 points.

Baghdad hosted negotiations of six mediators and Iran on May 23. Four rounds of talks were held in two days.

The six mediators (Russia, China, US, France, UK and Germany) and the IAEA have been trying to persuade Iran to stop uranium enrichment since 2003, saying that the process threatens the nuclear non-proliferation regime.

France expects progress at the Moscow talks in June, spokesman of the French Foreign Ministry Loran Fabius said, Trend reports.

World oil prices started dropping this morning due to forecasts that slowing Chinese economic progress may affect oil consumption.

WTI (Light Sweet Crude Oil) dropped by $0.21 (0.23%) to $90.45 per barrel at 8.42 am. July futures for Brent dropped by $0.36 (0.34%) to $106.19 per barrel. Investors are concerned over the failure of Chinese banks to fulfill their crediting plans for the first time in 7 years.
