Iranian liquefied natural gas to enter markets in 2013

The Iranian Deputy Oil Minister for planning and monitoring of hydrocarbon deposits, Mohsen Khojasteh-Mehr, told ISNA news agency that the first batch of Iranian liquefied natural gas (LNG) will be exported in 2013, Iran News reports.

Khojasteh-Mehr expressed the full readiness of Iran to export gas via three main gas pipelines. According to the deputy minister, Iran is planning to continue supplying natural gas via pipelines, but is considering other ways of transportation.
 
A plant for the production of LNG is currently being constructed in the special energy economic zone of Pars, 15 km south of Kangana (Bushehr province). The raw materials for the plant will be supplied from the 12th phase of the South Pars field and will amount to up to 2 billion cubic meters per day. The Director General of the Iranian company for the production of liquefied natural gas said that Iran will earn $10 billion a year after the plant is constructed.
