Turkish investor to build two hydro-electric stations in Belarus

The Ministry of Energy of Belarus has signed investment agreements with the Turkish company Cet Insaat Muhendislik Ticaret Limited Sirketi on construction of the Beshenkovichevskaya and Verkhnedvinskaya hydro-electric power stations. The entire volume of investments will surpass $300 million, the agency BELTA reports.

The minister of energy of Belarus, Alexander Ozerets, and the general director of the Turkish company, Erhan Audiner, signed the agreements.

The stations are planned to be built in three years. The Turkish company will work according to the BOT scheme (Build-Operate-Transfer). This is a widely-used instrument of state-private partnership which will be implemented in Belarus. The investor constructs stations and operates them for 30 years, after which the investor gives them to the state for free.
