The authorities of the Republic of Korea in September will resume
imports of oil from Iran of up to 200 thousand barrels per
day, RIA Novosti reported today, citing Reuters and sources in the
Ministry of Economy of South Korea.
The decision to renew the purchase of Iranian oil was taken when the
Islamic republic offered Seoul to deliver its "black gold" in
Iranian tankers and insure them at the expense of Iran.
"Imports will resume with shipping the first batch at the beginning of
September, which will arrive in late September. Oil will be shipped to
Iran, delivered by Iranian tankers and insured at Iranian
expense," a source in the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Korea said.
As previously reported, the authorities of the Republic of Korea have
been considering resuming imports of oil from Iran since the beginning
of July.
