The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy
of Ukraine are discussing the creation of the Black Sea Grain Council -
the focal point for exchanging information, the purpose of which
is to strengthen the two countries' positions on the world grain
market, "Novosti-Kazakhstan" reports referring to the Russian
agricultural department.
Last week in Kiev at the international agricultural exhibition
"Agro-2012" the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Russia, Ilya
Shestakov, met with the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of
Ukraine, Alexander Senem. "The main agenda of the negotiations was the
establishment of the" Black Sea Grain Board "- a coordinating body
whose main task will be the exchange of information in order to ensure
a competitive advantage for Russia and Ukraine on the world grain
market," a statement said.
Establishment of the council will also increase the total cereal
production in the member countries, develop export opportunities,
including more efficient use of export infrastructure and reduction of
export costs.
"In the long term, the Board will work to develop uniform rules of
trade, common approaches for the export of grain, to conduct a
coordinated investment policy and to develop the infrastructure of the
grain market in third countries," the report says.
To implement this initiative, the parties agreed to include in the
agenda of the next meeting of the Russian-Ukrainian subcommittee on
agriculture the renewal of the interdepartmental working group on the
coordinated development of the grain market in Russia and Ukraine.
It is planned that this meeting will be held October 12 in Moscow
under the chairmanship of the Minister of Agriculture of Russia
Nikolai Fyodorov and Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine
Mykola Prysiazhniuk.
