The biggest Russian oil company Rosneft may continue negotiations with
Lukoil on cooperation on shelf extrac tion, the head of Rosneft, Igor Sechin, told
the Prime news agency.
He noted that Russia's biggest private oil company, Lukoil, had proposed
to Rosneft to work together on the West Kurna-2 oilfield in Iraq, but this
offer did not provoke any interest from the state company.
"We are not very interested in this offer, There are some
technological problems connected to the lack of water," the head
of Rosneft noted.
On September 21 the head of Lukoil, Vagit Alekperov, said that Rosneft
and Lukoil stopped the negotiations because they could not find
mutually-beneficial projects. He did not specify the details, but said
that Lukoil wants to work on the Russian shelf.
