Nabucco transit states approve project

Transit states of Nabucco have given political and legal approval of the project, Trend reports.

The political committee of ministers met in Vienne (Austria) on October 8. The talks were organized by the Austrian Ministry for Energy. EU Commissioner for Energy Gunther Oettinger, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, energy ministers of Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Turkey and Nabucco shareholders attended the talks. Azerbaijani Minister for Industry and Energy Natig Aliyev presented a report.

Reinhard Mitschek, Managing Director of Pipeline International GmbH, said that the approval was the decisive factor for realization of Nabucco as the main project of the Southern Corridor Pipeline.

The Shah Deniz Consortium chose the Nabucco West project in June for gas deliveries to South-Eastern and Central Europe. The pipeline will be 1300 km long (412 km in Bulgaria, 469 km in Romania, 384 km in Hungary, 47 km in Austria). It will run from the Turkish-Bulgarian border to Austria’s Baumgarten. Gas for the pipeline will be extracted at the Shah Deniz Field.

OMV (Austria), FGSZ (Hungary), Bulgargaz (Bulgaria), Transgaz (Romania), Botas (Turkey) and RWE (Germany) have 16.67% each in the project.
