Egypt is considering the possibility of connecting the Pan-Arab gas pipeline to the Nabucco pipeline, to supply its own gas by this route, the Oil Minister of Egypt, Samih Fahmi Amin, told Trend in Baku.
Egypt held negotiations with shareholders of the Nabucco project and came to agreements on coordinating their efforts. Egypt is one of the participants in the Pan-Arab gas pipeline, with Lebanon, Jordan and Syria. Construction of the 7.9 billion euro Nabucco project is set to begin in 2011, with the first supplies delivered in 2014. The maximum capacity of the pipeline will be 31 billion cubic metres per year. The project's participants are the Austrian firm OMV, Hungarian company MOL, Bulgargaz, Transgaz of Romania, the Turkish firm Botas and Germany's RWE, each of them holding an equal stake of 16,67 %.
