Iranian Central Bank to use local currencies for global trade

President of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Mahmoud Abhmani said at the 32nd session of the D8 summit of Muslim states that they should use local currencies for trade to avoid repercussions, Trend reports.


The official noted that dollars and euro should not dominate their economies. He added that D8 trade turnover increased from $527.24 million in 2006 to $71 billion in 2011. Bahmani proposed lifting trade barriers.


Islamabad (Pakistan) is hosting the D8 summit, attended by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
