Iranian gas export is not limited by Nabucco

The interests of Iran as a gas exporter are not limited by the Nabucco project, Iranian Minister of Oil Masud Mirkazemi said in Moscow at negotiations on Nabucco, ITAR-TASS reports.

Nabucco is 3,300 km long and will connect the European Union with the gas fields of Central Asia and Middle East. The pipeline will go through Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Austria.

Local media report that Iran started constructing a new gas pipeline to supply Europe with gas. The project is worth $1.58 billion and will transport 110 cubic m of gas. The construction will be complete in 3 years. The pipeline will start Assaluya, south of Iran, and will go to Bazaran, not far from the Turkish border.
The natural gas reserves of Iran were estimated at 29.6 trillion cubic m in 2009 (the 2nd largest after Russia). Iran’s largest reserves are in the southern regions, South Pars, North Pars, Kengan, Nar and Khurasan.
