Haji Duran Geccaya, Director General of TETAS, an energy company of Turkey, said that realization of the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey energy connection would allow Azerbaijani electricity to enter Greece and possibly Bulgaria, Trend reports.
Electricity exports were planned to start in 2013, but Georgia failed to complete the project on time.
According to the project, Turkey will receive 1200 MW of electricity, 600 MW from Azerbaijan. Turkey will export up to 2000 MW of electricity annually. Power lines from Azerbaijan to Georgia need reconstruction.
Construction of some facilities of the project was announced by Azerenergy. The 500-KV Muhranis-Veli power line 150km long was completed, the third 400-MW transformer installed at the 500-KV Absheron substation and the 300-KV distribution substation reconstructed.
