Turkey’s external debt increases by 23%

 

The external debt of Turkey increased by 23% in December 2012, compared with December 2011, totaling $101 billion, the Central Bank of Turkey reports.

The external debt grew by 3.2% in December 2012, compared with November the same year. Transactions of external loans increased by 30.7% to $68.3 billion.

The ratio of the external loan to private sector increased by 10.7%, compared with the same period in 2011, totaling $31.6 billion. Turkish debts for imports in December increased by 10.7%, totaling $22.1 billion.

49.3% of the debt is composed in dollars, 32.5% in euro, 15.9% in liras, 2.3% in other currencies.
