Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will visit Turkey today to meet his counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu and discuss Syria and economic relations, RIA Novosti cites Alexander Lukashevich, spokesman of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Istanbul will host the third session of the Russian-Turkish Joint Group for Strategic Planning. They will talk about the situation in the Middle East and North Africa, the Korean Peninsula, Trans-Caucasus, Central Asia, Balkans and the Iranian nuclear programs.
Special attention will be paid to bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the Black Sea and collaboration within the framework of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC).
Russia is the second largest trade partner of Turkey. They had a trade turnover of $34.3 billion in 2012 and plan to reach a volume of $100 billion. They will cooperate in high-tech field, development of satellites and space exploration.
