Synterra to build communication line with Azerbaijan

The Arbitrary Court of Moscow closed the claim of Synterra against the Federal Agency for Communication and Information, who illegally halted the construction of communication line with Azerbaijan, according to the operator.


1news.az reported, citing Comnews, that Synterra called of the claim because the agency issued the license to project the interborder passing on Derbent-Guba section, the press-secretary of Synterra, Yekaterina Andreyeva said.


In May 2009 the intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan approved the fiber-optic passing on Derbent-Guba. After that Synterra sugned an agreement with ‘Azertelecom’ on establishing of a join-venture C-Ring telecom (the partners have 50%).


In November Synterra filed a claim against the Russian Federal Agency demanding the license to build the line. According to the law, the claim was to be observed within 3 months. In April 2010 the licensing was stopped due to the necessity to improve the project. After that Synterra made the claim against the Federal Agency.


The Federal Agency said that the problem was solved because of the new shareholder of Synterra, the press-secretary of the agency Mikhail Vorobyov said.


In early June MegaFon purchased a company group Synterra from Promsvyazcapital for $745 mil. The director general of Synterra Vitaliy Slizen was replaced by the deputy head of MegaFon Constantine Solodukhin.
