Gazprom President Alexey Miller will visit Athens for the third time in two months to meet Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and head of the Privatization Agency Stavridis Stelios to discuss privatization of DEPA.
DEPA and its subsidiary DESF make gross purchases and control 51% of the Greek retail gas market.
Greece will receive 20% of DEPA value as guarantees that will not be returned, unless a deal is signed within a year. Greece demands debts of private gas consumers worth €400 million in total to be paid. Bids for privatization of the company are welcome until May 29.
Russia’s other companies Negusneft, two Greek consortiums and Azerbaijan’s SOCAR are interested in privatization.
Samaras visited Azerbaijan and discuss energy cooperation and privatization of the Greek gas system by SOCAR.
