‘Kazmortransflot’ reduced oil transport in January-June by 10.6%

The national sea shipping company of Kazakhstan ‘Kazmortransflot’ transported 3,385 thousand tons of oil in January-June 2010, which is 10.6% less than in the same period last year, PRIME-TASS reports.

The company delivered 1,859 thousand tons of oil from Aktau (Kazakhstan) to Makhachkala (Russia), which is 7.3% less than last year. Oil transport from Aktau to Neka (Iran) dropped 1.6 times to 575 thousand tons, from Aktau to Baku (Azerbaijan) it rose 1.4 times to 849 tons. Oil transport along the Black Sea dropped 2.4 fold and reached 102,000 tons. The company explained that such a sharp decline was a result of the two sister companies ‘Kazmortransflot’ and ‘KazMunayGaz' – processing and marketing’ being affected by the transfer pricing law. According to the law, the freighting rate is determined at the moment of loading cargo, not the moment of signing the shipping contract, which is not beneficial for ‘KazMunayGaz – processing and marketing’, the largest shipper on the Black Sea.
