Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev granted additional funds for reconstruction of the Mineralniye Vody International Airport after observing its new terminal on Monday.
Roman Chuyev, Director General of the airport, said that reconstruction of the facility in 2012 increased passenger capacity to 400 per hour for domestic flights and 200 for the international. 2 billion rubles of private investments were spent on the reconstruction.
Capacity of the runway was increased to 15 planes per hour. 4 billion rubles from the federal budget were spent on its reconstruction. The director general said that the ramp and turn-off strips were 30 years old and needed 3.5 billion rubles for modernization. He noted that only 1.1 billion rubles had been granted for the process.
Medvedev ordered Alexander Khloponin, Vice Prime Minister and Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy to the NCFD, to work on the problem together with the Transportation Ministry to complete the reconstruction processes.
