KEGOC, the national company managing power network of Kazakhstan, proposed a separation of the Kazakh energy system from the Uzbek system, keeping parallel operations with the Russian and Kyrgyz systems, CentrAsia reports.
The North-South Kazakhstan transit was split 4 times in the autumn-winter season last year and experienced over 1,300 emergency shutdowns due to instability of the Uzbek energy system. KEGOC and Uzbekenergo have not settled all their contract issues and the latter owes money for services.
They have not signed the contract on regulation of 2500MW worth over $10 million. Uzbekistan owes Kazakhstan $7 million for electricity.
