The Russian Federal Service for Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare banned Lithuanian dairy products and took harsher measures to inspect meat and fish from the Baltic state, Prime reports.
Gennady Onishchenko, Russian Chief Sanitary Inspector, said that Lithuanian curd contained yeast, fungi, and bacteria.
Spokesman of the Lithuanian Ministry for Agriculture Ramune Visockite said that the problem could be discussed at the Golden Autumn Exhibition.
Onishchenko and Russian Minister for Agriculture Nikolai Fyodorov said that the ban for Lithuanian products will not affect the Russian market.
Lithuania provides Europe with 20% of all of its beef.
